The team at OnlineGroups.Net is pleased to announce the release of
GroupServer 1.0β2, Sundae Savoured. Sundae is now available from:
http://groupserver.org/downloads/
This release is a technical breakthrough for those wishing to use
GroupServer on a recent release of Linux in particular, as we have moved
to Zope 2.13, which is based on Python 2.6 (or optionally 2.7).
GroupServer is now also completely distributed as components -- for
those familiar with Python, all GroupServer components (including Zope)
are now distributed as eggs. This will make the upgrade process much
smoother for those with production environments.
We believe that GroupServer is competitive with both web based groups
such as Google Groups, but also provides the administrative freedom of
Open Source mailing list managers such as Mailman. A feature comparison
is available:

While this release has concentrated on improving the distribution of
GroupServer, the next release -- Spaghettieis with a Wafer of Confusion
Rest of post
-- will concentrate once again on improving and adding to the features
of GroupServer. Spaghettieis will likely be the last beta release of
GroupServer before 1.0. You may see the GroupServer roadmap here:

We would like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the e-Democracy.org
project (http://e-democracy.org) in making GroupServer releases
possible.
If you would like to have features added to GroupServer, are
unable to contribute technically, but have the means to contribute
financially, the team at OnlineGroups.Net would love to hear from you.
We are able to help with both generic GroupServer improvements as well
as bespoke GroupServer development and deployment for your organisation,
including web design. We can also provide setup assistance, including
remote hands support.
If you wish to try GroupServer in a hosted enviroment without
installing, and with the benefit of all the latest features, please try

We hope you enjoy the new release as much as we have enjoyed bringing it
to you!
